Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and having Thanksgiving resources ready to use helps tremendously. In this post, I’ll be sharing resources that will making your planning a bit easier.

Another favorite book for November is In November by Cynthia Rylant. It is perfect for descriptive writing, and it can be used throughout the month. Like Silly Tilly, it too is organized in a before, during, after format and comes in both digital and pdf.

Thanksgiving resources in my shop:

In my store, there are a variety of Thanksgiving resources. The first book I want to share about is Silly Tilly’s Thanksgiving Dinner by Lillian Toban. It is the sweetest book, and your students will love the activities I include in this unit. My unit is organized in a Before, During, After format, so you just need to print and go.

A few of my other Thanksgiving resources for November are A Turkey for Thanksgiving by Eve Bunting, my partner play, Tom’s Lucky Day and Max and the Thanksgiving Disaster, and Ready Freddy Thanksgiving Turkey Trouble. I love all of these and the fact that you can use them for a variety of resource types. Again, these support writing lessons and fit a variety of reading levels.

Speaking of book selections, I was so excited to locate these great pins with Thanksgiving book lists. Aren’t they great?  I love being able to just print the graphic to carry the list with me.  They are linked to the pins, so feel free to pin to your own boards. These book choices are excellent.

craft ideas for thanksgiving:

I was so excited to find such beautiful and thoughtful craft/craftivity ideas. One of my all time favorites from my search was this anonymous pin.  What a clever way to get your students thinking about what’s important to them. I will be doing this next week I believe, and I look forward to displaying them.

I also love this pumpkin from The Moffat Girls.  I think you could put a reading twist on it though and make book report pumpkins.  You can find lots of Thanksgiving resources on The Moffat Girls site.

Speaking of hands, how about this helping hand tree.  We use the Bucket Filler program, and I think this would be a nice accent to show how we help others.  We have an angel tree each year, and I think we could go from hands to angels.  Nice ring to it huh??

I clicked on a few of the freebies, but am not getting anything. I'm probably doing something wrong, but thought you'd want to know if there is by chance a problem.

  2. I tried as well and the same thing happened. It seems to be the lower half of the blog

  3. Thank you so much for the emergent reader on the first Thanksgiving. It's PERFECT for me class, and I love the cute clipart. Thanks again!
