You will have to teach the students how to handle the discussion questions and show them how to take turns answering. You might “pass the mike” to manage it.
You might keep a checklist of the roles each person has completed, and rotate each day.
Hopefully, you can group your students by similar levels and interests so that all students complete the reading on time. Give independence as much as possible to free yourself for small group lessons.
Kids WANT to read together and talk about their books. Book clubs can be used in the summer or in classroom as part of your reading rotations.
