Partner plays are great for building fluency and comprehension skills. A Snowy Day for Sam and Max is a partner play for grades 1-3 about Sam’s first snow day of the season. This snow day partner play resource includes before, during, and after reading activities for deeper comprehension and additional fluency practice. I suggest pairing it with books such as The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats, Snowflakes Fall by Patricia MacLachlan, or Snow by Cynthia Rylant.
