Description
Dogteam by Gary Paulsen is a great choice as a winter mentor text for figurative language and writing. It has a vivid description of running a dogsled team on a night run. This unit is intended to be used for comprehension and writing.

I found this resource not to be useful in my fourth-grade classroom. I tried to use the book and the resources to teach imagery. The sort was very difficult and only contained examples of sight and hearing. If you really stretched some of the examples, you would be able to use one example of taste and touch. I was disappointed in the material, especially at that price point.
