HOW CAN TEACHERS USE THE MERCY WATSON GOES FOR A RIDE UNIT?
These activities would work well as part of an author study of Kate DiCamillo, as a class read aloud to model strategies for younger readers, and with partner reading. The materials are varied and provide higher level thinking skill practice. You do not have to use the pages in order. You can pick and choose which best fit your timeline. Some organizers can be used with multiple books as well. I suggest putting some of the activities into your literacy centers, using some with small groups, and some for modeling. Your kids will enjoy the books so much, and my hope is that having the activities on hand will make planning easy.
