HOW POEM OF THE WEEK BENEFITS READERS:
Students need to work on comprehension and word analysis skills with a variety of texts, and poetry works well for brief lessons with lots of impact. Reading fluency is a critical skill for all primary readers. Using a Poem of the Week program is a well established fluency building strategy. If you use the activities I mentioned with each poem in a regular routine, you will see fluency growth.
This poem is a preview of my fall poem of the week collection that includes 10 original poems with blackline illustrations and color illustrations for fall and the beginning of winter as well as two analysis pages that will help your students with word study skills, comprehension of the poem, and specifically visualizing using text details.
