Hello there! I'm glad you're here!

Literacy is my passion.
Hello! I’m Carla, and welcome to my site! My goal with this site is to share teaching tips for all areas of literacy including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and writing for grades K-8. I love sharing resources with teachers, and it makes me happy to help take a little off the overflowing platters of teacher duties. I hope you’ll find my site helpful and my resources worthy of using with your students.

Busy Me Plus Three
I have two students who struggle with reading. I needed something to help build their self-esteem, but I didn't want to reinvent the wheel either. This was perfect! We do a poem each week. Monday, we read through it together. After they each do a cold read for me, we highlight our struggling words. Then Tuesday-Thursday, we do the activities. On Friday, they read it once more for me, and we chart their improvement. Their self-esteem has grown so much. They love taking them home to read each week.
