Narrative Writing Guide for Writer’s Workshop

This Narrative Writing Guide offers step by step work through the writing process to help your students compose a well written narrative piece. Students will enjoy hearing from the suggested mentor texts to see how and what authors choose as topics to help them hone in on the small moments.

HOW TEACHERS CAN USE THIS NARRATIVE WRITING GUIDE:

Teachers can begin by demonstrating what a narrative text is by analyzing mentor texts. Then, thenext step is to begin process writing lessons with shared writing. Once student topics are chosen, students will dig in to prepare for and plan their rough draft, work on revisions using the writer’s checklist included, and complete a final draft for publishing.
