January Currently

Happy New Year Readers!  I'm a few days late, but I'm glad to join in the fun with Farley at Oh Boy Fourth Grade for the January Currently!  I can't wait to hear what my readers are up to this month.  I expect quite a few will sadly be saying goodbye to winter break.  Sigh...  I am really missing my kids though, and I know we have a LOT to do before the dreaded testing marathon in May.

So here's what I'm up to currently...

Yep...I'm sipping my coffee and listening to CBS.  Kat Edmundson (I think that was her name) sounds a lot like Nora Jones, so I really enjoyed listening to her. Neither of my kids are up yet, so it's very quiet. Teenagers sleep forever if you let them!  It's 11:00 AM.  I've been up for three hours already. My how things change as your kids grow.

So are you beginning to panic yet?  I am.  I have several projects I want to finish, and I probably need to take down decorations (but that may wait for a bit yet).  My planning marathon will come tomorrow. Today I plan to enjoy time with this guy here.  He heads back to college tomorrow. Where did his break go?  Seemed short to me.  Poor guy had wisdom teeth out and had a stomach bug. Ick! So far...no one else has gotten it.  Those of you with young children...savor the time!  This is Sam with Catherine the day we brought her home from the hospital.  Time flies!

One important thing on my to-do list today is to get to the gym.  I know everyone chooses fitness and weightloss as their New Year's Resolution, but at 48, I think it's time it become a priority.  I actually started working on it in October and am still 15 pounds down.  I slacked off some between Thanksgiving and Christmas, so it's time to rein it in and get back at it. Anyone need a weightloss and fitness partner to encourage them?  I think my main obstacle is my love of the computer, so I need to find balance with that.

January 27th to get here so I can join my sister and mom for six wonderful days in Playa Del Carmen. I can't wait for a little R and R with these two. Hoping for lots of fun memories made.

Later this year, my husband and I celebrate our 25th anniversary, so 2015 should be a great year. Not sure what we'll get to do to celebrate, but hope we get away for at least a long weekend. Hawaii would be amazing, but I expect that's not in the cards at this time.

My last "Wish for"...well, I wish for lots of peace in 2015.  Peace in our world, peace in our schools and communities, and peace at home (remember...I love quiet times).

One more thing before I sign off...Tuesday is the first blogiversary at Adventures in Literacy Land. We're celebrating with a Winter Wonders Blog Hop, so drop by Tuesday to hop through for this great one-day event!  We'll have a giveaway running next week to at Literacy Land.

Happy New Year Readers!

  1. Time does fly, my college aged daughter has a job and only came home for 6 days this time. Luckily she is only 2 hours away, so I see her almost once a month.

Have fun on your trip, and here are some "Hawaii" thoughts for you.

    1. Thanks Candice! Crazy how time flies. I think he'll be home this summer, but sad at the thought of him being gone.

    1. Thanks Colleen. It will be nice for us to have time together. My sister and I both have children with special needs, so for our sanity...it will be good.
