Five for Friday-Back to School

Holy Moly...what a busy week it has been,  but I think I'm getting close to being ready.  I'm linking up today with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday to share a few highlights from the week. My room is done, but sadly, I haven't taken pictures yet.  I will most definitely get that done before the children arrive (because it will never look as good after) while everything is fresh and new for my little people. I am so excited for the kids to get there and see how they like the looks of the place and experience the positive energy they bring to the year.  It reminds me of this cartoon which I laugh about every time I see it.
Truth right??  Not quite the same image for parents.  If you need a good laugh, watch this video clip.  Who makes this stuff up?  It is hilarious!

Cartoon Number OneSo the week began with our Superintendent's address and trainings on unpacking the objectives and pacing guides and school registration. What long days!  The whole time you're listening, you go through the to-do list in your mind, but it was nice to be able to shop for items on my list for the Boost sale at Teachers Pay Teachers.  I was thrilled with a few items I got.  I'm teaching kinders this year, so I found some great sets to use with them.  It will be nice to have little people again.

Cartoon Number TwoThis week, my oldest started college at NC State University in Raleigh, NC.  He was so excited to get there and has been getting settled in while I have been excited to clean his room missing him terribly.  I did clean his room though, and one funny...I will NOT be missing the turf pellets that seemed to find their way into every corner of his closet, under the bed, and under his desk.  The room feels so empty with out his sweet face in it.  My youngest has been sad and asked to sleep in there because she could at least feel closer to Sam. (Sniff!...tears in eyes).  We will look forward to traveling to games and time enjoying college again with him.

Cartoon Number ThreeYesterday, I worked on my post for this weekend's blog hop.  I just love my literacy loving blogging buddies.  Ironically, this blog hop was planned in July with a space theme not knowing that Teachers Pay Teachers would go with the space theme too.  Of course, the posts are all back to school related, but the information each of us shared was great (in my opinion).  I learned a few good ideas, and I loved the freebies that were shared as well.  There are a few that chose to do a raffle too, so certainly hop along this weekend.  The image to the right is linked to stop #1.

Cartoon Number FourThis weekend (Yeehaw!!), we're looking forward to a big crab fest with friends.  It is always so much fun.  All the crabs are cooked and laid out on the table for lots of cracking and picking.  I have not quite gotten the crab crackin' routine down just yet, but it's always so much fun hanging out with friends and learning.

PhotoCartoon Number FiveI will end with a funny.  I just went through these hilarious dog pictures, and I have one of my own.  We have not yet found the mysterious cause of Molly's red paws, but I'm thinking it might be make-up.  My husband and daughter were off registering for middle school and came home to a bed stained red (with some sort of powdery substance in chunks on the bed) along with the paws. Anyway, it remains a mystery, and it's not coming out!  Eek! Perhaps the next haircut.  These pictures just made me laugh as they reminded me of our dog Shadow (and of course now, Molly).  Oh the stories I could tell about Shadow.  You name, that dog did it!  Molly has been a good girl most of the time, but this time...caught!  If you have good ones, please share.  I'd love to hear them.

Enjoy your weekend, and until next time, happy reading!
